About Us

Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative (PSREC), located in Portola, California, is a member-owned electric distribution utility providing electrical power and related services to more than 7,700 member/owners in Plumas, Lassen, and Sierra counties in California and portions of Washoe County in Nevada.  We are a true cooperative, controlled by the membership through an elected seven-person board of directors.

Telecommunication services are offered through our wholly owned subsidiary, Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications.

Job Opportunities

Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative (PSREC) is seeking to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Summary of Duties
Responsible for overall financial management of the utility and its telecommunications subsidiary. This includes the functions of accounting, financial planning, budgeting, rate making, financial reporting, and financing.

The CFO must interrelate and effectively communicate with the Board of Directors, General Manager, and senior management team. In addition, will work closely to inform and coordinate activities of legal, auditors, financial organizations, insurance agents, and other industry professionals.

Experience Requirements
The successful candidate will be a proven leader, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative nature. A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required. A Master's degree in accounting and a CPA or CMA certificate is desirable.

Other key requirements include extensive experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ability to effectively use and data mine from an accounting software package; comprehensive understanding of budgeting principles and practices; leadership and management skills; and organizational skills with an ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously.

A large percentage of time will be focused on the telecommunications subsidiary, which has brought fiber optics to the region and is expanding broadband throughout our service area. Knowledge and interest in telecommunications trends and the ability to prepare business cases and analytics on proposed new telecom projects is essential.
